Excellent commentaries on Proverbs have been written by Bruce Waltke, John Kitchen, and the ever-quotable Derek Kidner. One that may be overlooked however was penned by Robert Alden, called Proverbs: A Commentary on an Ancient Book of Timeless Advice. It gets right to the point of each verse, which is always helpful for the busy expositor.
